As the closing event for the Sound of Failure Festival we are having a party at the Hollywood. Join us for an evening of quirky tunes, minimal soundscapes, avant beats and turntablism.

DJ Olive (USA)

DJ Olive is known for many sounds, from beats to sleep to avant-turntablism. As an improvisor he has performed with thousands of world class musicians including Luc Ferrari, Kim Gordon, Ikue Mori, Uri Caine, John Zorn, and Christian Fennez. DJ Olive has released solo albums Bodega and Heaps As on his own record label the Agriculture, and ambient sleep albums Buoy and Sleep.

Panoptique Electrical Let the Darkness At You CD Launch

Let The Darkness At You collects instrumental pieces recorded by Jason Sweeney for film, animated film, and theatre performances, in various towns and cities including Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Albury, and Wagga Wagga in Australia, Banff (Canada), Los Angeles (USA), Glasgow (Scotland), and Brussels (Belgium), between 1998 and 2008. In early 2008, Jason set to re-working and re-contextualizing these pieces to create Let The Darkness At You (Sensory Projects).

Shannon O’Neill

Shannon O’Neill is an artist, academic and curator who works across music, radio, internet, performance, text, video and installation. Based in Sydney, he has been active since the early 1990s. As well as making sound and music under his own name and as Time Being, he has been a member of the groups The Field, Wake Up and Listen, The Splinter Orchestra, Plenum, Projek Lansac and Undermind. Shannon has directed the Electrofringe festival, the Disorientation series, and the Sydney Liquid Architecture festival, and is the founder and director of Alias Frequencies.

Nicholas Mills is a sound/media/visual artist and independent arts and creative producer, based in Far North Queensland. He is co-producer of the On Edge contemporary media + performance festival, the ongoing Submerge experimental media + performance series, and the Old Hrvatski Klub Artspace. For the past 12 years, Mills has developed a unique approach to sound/music/media making, from absurd art/music cabaret (Falcon Krest), to avant/experimental sound/screen art (File_Error), to upbeat live mashing and remixing (DJ No_Request), to soft beat electronica (The Exit-Stencilist).
